Usually a Dozer, the Birmingham Show Draws a Crowd

Article Abstract:

Many automobiles were introduced at the 1999 British International Motor Show, held at the National Exhibition Centre near Birmingham. Automobiles from both large British car manufacturers and small independent manufacturers were introduced. Many old car designs have been revived and incorporated into the models that were showcased.

An Alfa ghost and Mr. Muir

Article Abstract:

Muir used two DOHC 2.0-liter engines from Alfettas of the 1970s when making his replica of Biondetti's Alfa Romeo 2.9. He calls the car, which can go faster than 120 mph, the Appennine Three Nine. He hopes to make and sell a few more of the cars for about $150,000.

Pollution-free NECAR II: not quite ready to replace the internal-combustion engine

Article Abstract:

NECAR II is Daimler-Benz's second prototype of a working fuel-cell-powered emission-free electric van. It can travel 150 miles at speeds up to 70 mph, adequate for city use. The company believes fuel-cell cars may be in production by the year 2005.
