Company boards: looking for balance

Article Abstract:

Boyden, an executive search firm, did a survey of annual reports to attenpt to rate the skills and abilities of corporate board members. While inconclusive, the survey indicated that boards in the resource and finance sectors recruited people with experience in the same or nearly the same line of business. Most boards seek management skills, then financial and legal skills; technical skills are only sought in the resource sector. Marketing and human resource skills were less represented.
