Tax payers have an authority to claim certain costs incurred in managing their tax affairs and it is their burden to prove the case against the taxation office. Proper maintenance of accurate and detailed records of tax-related matters to avoid any problems with deduction claims is emphasized.

When is a loan not a loan? At call loans are facing new rules and more paper warfare - but is it another case of the tail wagging the dog?

The dangers of at call loans from shareholders to private companies in Australia are stated. It is also stated that it involves more paperwork and the repayment of the loan could be treated as a dividend.
