Angkor regained

Article Abstract:

The Indian team's restoration of Angkor Wat is admirable given the context of conditions in Cambodia and the general standards of such work in Asia. The interventionist approach of the team, especially in the use of concrete, has provoked criticism. The world's largest religious structure has been well preserved despite the socio-political situation in Cambodia though there are some slogans on the walls and bullet holes in the carvings. The detached carvings collection in the national museum at Phnom Penh has lost all the gold and parts of some statues.
