For love not money

Article Abstract:

The not-for-profit organizations are under pressure because of competition for funds and Charities Bill, which ostensibly puts the regulation of the not-for-profit sector under the auspices of the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). The financial reform agenda of the federal government for not-for-profit business has attracted fierce criticism from charities as they stand to lose precious funding and they take it to be an attempt by the government to prevent them from speaking against it.

The golden paths

Article Abstract:

The terms under which Australia's financial service reform (FSR) permits CPAs to give financial advice are discussed. The benefits of applying for a license are outlined with some professionals opining that services offered by CPAs should be fee based rather than commission based with accountants becoming authorized representatives of organizations such as Fintech and Count Wealth Accountants.

Ian Ramsay, director of the centre for corporate law and securities regulation at the University of Melbourne, published the famed Ramsay report on auditor independence in October 2001. According to him, the report aimed at putting forward broad principles.
