IASC harmonisation: one step forward, two steps back?

Article Abstract:

Australia plans to bring national accounting standards on par with international accounting standards established by the International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC). Critics argue that the attempt to achieve harmonization with international standards will not succeed because IASC standards may not be widely accepted. Another challenge to harmonization is that IASC standards that conflict with directives in the US and the European Union may not be applied.

Economic reforms in China during the first 10 years of the 21st century and an understanding of the differences in China could increase foreign investments in the region.
