Not for profit - but not for loss: the not for profit sector - and its accountants - face a growing number of challenges

Article Abstract:

Australia's not-for-profit organizations are increasingly needing practical business expertise and a more strategic approach. This is in turn making their accountants into business managers. These organizations are facing greater demands for their services, and must deal with being part of the tax system.

Charity case: economic uncertainty and a drop in consumer confidence spell tough times for not-for-profits

Article Abstract:

Growing economic problems are having a negative impact on charity organizations in Australia. Government support is being scaled down, while many ordinary people are giving less money to charity. In some cases, money that would previously have gone to charities is being diverted into gambling.
