Professional development set for online future

Article Abstract:

An electronic and online format for the delivery of professional development services for accountants has been a project of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants in 1998 and 1999. There are audio and video components to the service which provides a wide range of content and topics which accountants need to keep abreast of the profession. Costs of the service, which is named PD Online, compare favorably to other professional development services.

Financial planning specialisation - advanced standing for CPAs

Article Abstract:

The Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants has a new course, the Master of Financial Planning. Accountants with a bachelor's degree and financial planning experience are eligible for the course. Case studies are used, practical skills are emphasized and research experience is available.

Competency made easy

Article Abstract:

CPA Australia member research agreed on development of competency tools as a part of accountant's career development. It remarked that such tools would help benchmark an accountant's real level of skills and then provide a gap analysis and training plan.
