A C. elegans mediator protein confers regulatory selectivity on lineage-specific expression of a transcription factor gene

Article Abstract:

A Caenorhabditis elegans mediator protein has been found to confer regulatory selectivity on lineage-specific expression of a transcription factor gene. Results of a study support a physiological role of the mammalian Mediator complex in taking regulatory signals to the transcriptional system.

Inhibition of touch cell fate by egl-44 and egl-46 in C. elegans

Article Abstract:

Inhibition of Caenorhabditis elegans touch cell fate by egl-44 and egl-46, two genes first identified in a screen for mutants defective in the function of the egg-laying motor neurons, has been studied using cloning of the genes. Both genes were found to encode putative transcription factors. In the FLP cells the genes prevent differentiation as touch cells.

A transcriptional regulatory cascade that controls left/right asymmetry in chemosensory neurons of C. elegans

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on left/right diversification in the nervous system. The authors have investigated the mechanisms of this diversification, and they report that these mechanisms are genetically separable.
