A functional genomic strategy reveals clockwork orange as a transcriptional regulator in the Drosophila circadian clock

Article Abstract:

The identification of a novel clock gene clockwork orange (cwo), a transcriptional repressor in Drosophila is described. It is proposed that the competition between cyclic CLK-CYC activity and the adjustable threshold imposed by cwo keeps E-box mediated transcription within the controllable range of its activity which renders a Drosophila circadian clock capable of generating high-amplitude oscillation.

Drosophila lacking microRNA miR-278 are defective in energy homeostasis

Article Abstract:

Evidence to show that the microRNA miR-278 plays a role in the control of energy homeostasis in Drosophila is presented. miR-278 acts by a different mechanism, at least partly through regulation of expanded transcript to control insulin sensitivity in adipose and peripheral tissues.
