A functional mobA gene for molybdopterin cytosine dinucleotide cofactor biosynthesis is required for activity and holoenzyme assembly of the heterotrimeric nicotine dehydrogenases of Arthrobacter nicotinovorans

Article Abstract:

The identity of the ketone dehydrogenase (kdh) genes is demonstrated by the assembly of the functional holoenzyme from its three subunits and it is shown that the molybdenum cofactor is molybdopterin cytosine dinucleotide (MCD). A mobA gene responsible for the formation of MCD could be identified and its function could be shown for the assembly of Arthrobacter nicotinovorans.

Effects of deregulation of methionine biosynthesis on methionine excretion in Escherichia coli

Article Abstract:

Several regulators of methionine were reported in Escherichia coli, which might represent barriers to the production of excess L-methionine (Met). To examine the effects of these factors on Met biosynthesis and metabolism, deletion mutations of the methonine repressor (metJ) and threonine biosynthetic (thrBC) genes were introduced into the W3110 strain of E. coli.

CorA affects tolerance of Escherichia coli and Salmonella enterica serovar typhimurium to the lactoperoxidase enzyme system but not to other forms of oxidative stress

Article Abstract:

Knockouts in 10 lactoperoxidase system-inducible genes are constructed to investigate their role in the tolerance of Escherichia coli MG1655 to this antimicrobial system. Five mutations resulted in a slightly increased sensitivity, but one mutation (corA) caused hypersensitivity to the lactoperoxidase system.
