A generalized least-squares estimate for the origin of sporophytic self-incompatibility

Article Abstract:

The origin and evolution of mating systems in plants are investigated by studying the nucleotide sequences, which regulate the self-incompatibility expression in flowering plants. The investigation reveals that self-incompatibility is originated in plants by means of repeated recruitment and modification of the genes. The conventional idea that hypermutability is the cause for the developments of mating systems is eliminated by the investigation.

Two programs to estimate significance of chi-square values using pseudo-probability tests

Article Abstract:

Two computer programs, CHIRXC and CHIHW, approximating chi-square significance. The computer programs employs pseudo-probability tests allowing for the analysis of scant tabular data without pooling unique classes. CHIRXC can be used in the analysis of contingency tables where R is crossed with C while CHIHW can be used to approximate genotypic proportion conformity to the expected proportions derived from the Hardy-Weinberg equation.

MANTEL-STRUCT: A program for the detection of population structure via Mantel tests

Article Abstract:

MANTEL-STRUCT is a computer program that users can utilize to compute genetic differentiation. The program can effectively determine interobservational similarity/distance measures and analyze observations based on the Mantel test. It supports the construction of dissimilarity measures from dominant marker data that need no assumptions about genotypic proportions. The software runs on a Windows computer operating system platform.
