A genomewide single-nucleotide-polymorphism panel for Mexican American admixture mapping

Article Abstract:

An admixture study in Mexican Americans (MAM) was conducted by defining genomewide single-nucleotide-polymorphism (SNP) panel that can distinguish between chromosomal segments of Amerindian (AMI) or European (EUR) ancestry. It is shown that using realistic simulation parameters this panel of SNP ancestry-informative markers provides good power for detecting disease-associated chromosomal segments for genes with modest ethnicity risk ratios.

A genomewide single-nucleotide-polymorphism panel with high ancestry information for African American admixture mapping

Article Abstract:

The ability of selected single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) to extract continental ancestry information in African American (AFA) subjects is investigated and parameters for admixture mapping, which requires a genomewide panel of relatively evenly spaced ancestry-informative markers (AIM) is explored. A set of AFA SNP AIMs is derived which improves power for admixture mapping in African Americans when ethnicity risk ratios are modest.

Admixture mapping of an allele affecting interleukin 6 soluble receptor and interleukin 6 levels

Article Abstract:

An estimated 1,343 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are genotyped in 1,184 African Americans from the Health, Aging and Body Composition (Health ABC) Study to identify genes influencing the levels of the inflammatory markers. Results reveal a significant association of interleukin 6 soluble receptor (IL-6SR) with European ancestry on chromosome 1 in a region that includes the gene for this receptor (IL-6R).
