A homeobox gene, PRESSED FLOWER, regulates lateral axis-dependent development of Arabidopsis flowers

Article Abstract:

A homeobox gene, PRESSED FLOWER (PRS), has been found to be very likely to regulate lateral axis-dependent development of Arabidopsis flowers. A flower mutant of Arabidopsis, pressed flower (prs), has been isolated and analyzed. The phenotype of prs has been found and the molecular identification of PRS has been carried out. This is the first report of a gene involved in the lateral axis-dependent development of lateral organs and floral meristems of Arabidopsis.

FHY1: a phytochrome A-specific signal transducer

Article Abstract:

A phytochrome A-specific signal transducer, FHY1 in Arabidopsis, has been studied using molecular cloning and functional characterization. FHY1 (ital) encodes FHY1, which specifically transduces signals downstream of the far-red (FR) light-responsive phytochrome A photoreceptor. FHY1 was found to be a novel light-regulated protein that accumulates in dark-grown but not in FR-grown hypocotyl cells.

EID1, an F-box protein involved in phytochrome A-specific light signaling

Article Abstract:

EID1, an F-box protein is discussed relative to phytochrome A-specific light signaling. Plants have evolved specific photoreceptors called phytochromes and even though the spectral properties of all phytochromes are very alike, they have distinct action modes. Likely EID1 acts by targeting activated components of the phyA signaling pathway to ubiquitin-dependent proteolysis.
