A look at messenger RNP moving through the nuclear pore

Article Abstract:

The translocation of messenger ribonucleoprotein (mRNP) through the nuclear pore complex is characterized by a six-step mechanism that is mediated by the Balbiani ring (BR) gene. The mRNP translocation process starts with the binding of BR RNP to the nuclear fibers of the nucleoplasm followed by the formation of a basket which is mediated by the transient appearance of a terminal ring. The particle passes through the expanding ring to the central channel where nonshuttling proteins are shed. Protein synthesis is then initiated after the RNP fibril and its 5' end exits into the cytoplasm.

Nuclear orphan receptors control cholesterol catabolism

Article Abstract:

Several studies revealed the potential physiological roles of three nuclear orphan receptors, namely, LXRL, CPF (NR5A2) and FXR (NR1H4). These receptors were found to be involved in the body's controlled elimination of excess cholesterol and regulation of the catabolic process by preventing the conversion of cholesterol into bile acids. The nuclear orphan receptors' physiological function as a regulator of cholesterol accumulation is one of the body's defense against heart attacks.
