Development of an in vitro bioassay for Clostridium botulinum type B neurotoxin in foods that is more sensitive than the mouse bioassay

Article Abstract:

The development of an in vitro bioassay for Clostridium botulinum type B neurotoxin in foods that is more sensitive than the mouse bioassay is described. The enzymic activity of the neurotoxin's light chain was used to amplify the assay which conducted in three stages. Results indicate that the endopeptidase assay can differentiate between the type B neurotoxins produced by proteolytic and nonproteolytic strains of Clostridium botulinium type B.

Real-time PCR assay for detection and enumeration of Dekkera bruxellensis in wine

Article Abstract:

A real time or quantitative PCR (QPCR) assay is developed for the detection and quantification of D. bruxellensis in wine. The method is helpful to identify possible routes of D. bruxellensis infection in winery environments.
