Air-and dustborne mycoflora in houses free of water damage and fungal growth

Article Abstract:

A study establishing a reliable reference list of fungi and their relative abundances in nonproblem detached, single-family residences, structures free of water damage and indoor fungal growth is discussed. Results showed that ranking by prevalence and abundance of the types of airborne and dustborne fungi did not differ from winter to summer.

Cadmium-responsive thiols in the ectomycorhizal fungus Paxillus involutus

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to evaluate the metabolic response of Paxillus involutus to cadmium exposure by using a modified gradient reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. The findings indicate that ectomycorrhizal fungi may use a different mechanism to tolerate heavy metals, such as Cd, than do their plant hosts.

Use of Laccase as a novel, versatile reporter system in filamentous fungi

Article Abstract:

A report is presented on a novel application of laccases as a reported system in Aspergillus nidulans, Aspergillus niger and Trichoderma reesei. Monitoring of heterologously expressed laccase activity is done in colorometric enzyme assays and on agar plates with 2,2'-azino-di-(3-ethylbenzthiazolinsulfonate) (ABTS) as a substrate.
