An Oak Ridge legacy: the specific locus test and its role in mouse mutagenesis

Article Abstract:

The increase of research studies regarding mouse genetics can be attributed to the breakthroughs in molecular biology and tissue culture techniques which can be utilized to analyze the nature of mutation and its effects. These techniques have been derived from the studies in Oak Ridge, TN. These studies have identified a mouse strain called the T (test) stock. The techniques being used in mouse genetics help the researchers to focus on specific genes they want to study.

Phenotypic plasticity and functional asymmetry in response to grip forces exerted by intercollegiate tennis players

Article Abstract:

Phenotypic and functional responses to extreme asymmetry in hand use are examined. This study results provides a reference point for future studies of muscular adaptation and physiological response to directional asymmetrical training.

Grip strength and digit ratios are not correlated in women

Article Abstract:

The prenatal androgen levels affect the correlation between the grip strength and lower digit ratios (2D:4D) in men. However, the authors have recorded no such correlation between the grip strength and 2D:4D ratios in women.
