Analysis of flowering time in ecotypes of Arabidopsis thaliana

Article Abstract:

A dominant gene confers the late flowering trait in Arabidopsis thaliana. The gene is present on that part of chromosome 4, which contains FRIGIDA gene conferring late flowering trait in other Arabidopsis ecotypes. Crosses between early flowering Columbia ecotype and late flowering ecotypes, such as Coimbra (Co-4), Geneva (Ge-2) or Zurich (Zu-0) give late flowering F(sub 1) generation and late to early flowering ratio of 3:1 in F(sub 2) generation. The results indicate that FRIGIDA is responsible for late flowering in Co-4, Ge-2 or Zu-0.

Genetic analysis of variation for auxin-induced adventitious root formation among eighteen ecotypes of Arabidopsis thaliana L. Heynh

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine ecotypes and inbred lines of Arabidopsis thaliana L. Heynh for differences in the number of adventitious roots established on seeding hypocotyls based on auxin treatment. Phenotypic variation for 10 traits was determined to analyze trait associations. Experimental results indicated that environmental factors and a number of genes acting independently in an additive-dominance way may control rooting responses.

Inheritance of ultraviolet-B tolerance in seven ecotypes of Arabidopsis thaliana L. Heynh. and their F1 hybrids

Article Abstract:

Seven ecotypes of Arabidopsis thalania L. Heynh. from different European locations were studied. A partial diallel mating design was used to examine morphological response to supplementary ultraviolet-B radiation.
