Aspects of bioavailability of mercury for methylation in pure cultures of Desulfobulbus propionicus (1pr3)

Article Abstract:

Experiments show that methylmercury (MeHg) per-cell production, under equal bioavailability conditions, was constant throughout culture growth. A decrease, however, was observed for a new Hg spike methylation rate after a certain duration, suggesting that Hg bioavailability decreases from changes in both solid phase formation and complexation.

Mercury methylation by dissimilatory iron-reducing bacteria

Article Abstract:

An examination of the Hg-methylating ability of dissimilatory iron-reducing bacteria in the genera Geobacter, Desulfuromonas, and Shewanella is examined. Geobacter and Desulfuromonas are closely related to known Hg-methylating sulfate-reducing bacteria within the Deltaproteobacteria.

Microbial desulfurization of alkylated dibenzothiophenes from a hydrodesulfurized middle distillate by Rhodococcus erythropolis I-19

Article Abstract:

Research is conducted on the microbial transformation extent and rate in the alkylated dibenzothiophenes found in the hydrodesulfurized middle-distillate petroleum. Results include description of the kinetic behaviour of the system and provide mechanistic observational basis.
