Article Abstract:

This article clarifies the interpretation of the research results on the chitin synthase 3 activity in yeast mutants. Overexpression of CHS4 enzyme leads to an increase in the enzyme activity. The enzyme is extractable by detergents and is non-zymogenic.

On the zymogenic character of chitin synthase 3

Article Abstract:

The chitin synthase 4 activity in yeast mutants is detergent extractable without affecting the chitin synthase 3 of the wild type. Data further pointed out that the latter enzyme shows zymogenic property subsequent to this detergent extraction.

A Bacillus amyloloquefaciens ChbB protein binds beta- and alpha-chitin and has homologues in related strains

Article Abstract:

A Bacillus amyloloquefaciens chitin-binding (ChbB) protein, which has homologues in related strains, has been found to bind alpha- and beta-chitin. ChbB is secreted by B amyloliquefaciens ALDO 2718. It cross-reacts with anti-CHB1 antibodies.
