Biological traits of Xylella fastidiosa strains from grapes and almonds

Article Abstract:

A xylem limited bacterium that causes various diseases like the Pierce's disease of grapevine (PD) and almond leaf scorch (ALS) is studied. The results show that genetically distinct strains from grapes and almonds differ in population behavior and pathogenecity in grapes and the inability to grow on two different media.

Genetic diversity of Pierce's disease strains and other pathotypes of Xylella fastidiosa

Article Abstract:

Strains of Xylella fastidiosa have greater genetic diversity than previously reported. This gram-negative bacterium causes Pierce's disease of grape, phony peach disease, periwinkle wilt, citrus variegated chlorosis, and leaf scorch disease of almond, plum, elm, Maple, oak, and sycamore.

Use of a green fluorescent strain for analysis of Xylella fastidiosa colonization of vitis vinifera

Article Abstract:

X. fastidiosa colonization of grapevine in a quantitative manner and related patterns of colonization to symptom development are characterized. Findings state that X. fastidiosa is efficient in movement between vessels in the plants.
