Characterization of Wolbachia transfection efficiency by using microinjection of embryonic cytoplasm and embryo homogenate

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to compare Wolbachia bacteria that originate from different embryonic regions for their competencies in establishing stable germ line infections. The results in relation to intra and interspecific Wolbachia transfection and the future adaptation of the microinjection technique for additional insects are discussed.

Characterization of enzymatic antiooxidants in the lichen Ramalina lacera and their response to rehydration

Article Abstract:

The antioxidant systems in Ramalina lacera are characterized and the effect of rehydration of naturally desiccated thalli on these enzymatic activities are investigated. Different types of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and two enzymes with catalase activity are detected in Ramalina lacera and their organismal origin is determined.

Characterization and development of two reporter gene systems for Clostidium acetobutylicum

Article Abstract:

The use of lacZ from thermoanaerobacterium thermosulfurigenes and lucB from Photinus pyralis as reporter genes in Clostridium acetobutylicum is analyzed. It was found that both lacZ as well as lucB represent important gene systems for clostridia and all findings were tabulated.
