Coupled degradation of a small regulatory RNA and its mRNA targets in Escherichia coli

Article Abstract:

Research shows that the turnover of the small antisense regulatory RNA, RyhB, is coupled and dependent on its association with the target mRNAs. Results indicate that degradation of RyhB and its mRNA is dependent on RNase E. Furthermore, in the absence of the RNA chaperone, RyhB is unstable and degraded by RNase E. Both RNA chaperone and RNase E bind similar sites on the RNA.

Curbing the nonsense: the activation and regulation of mRNA surveillance

Article Abstract:

The nonsense-mediated mRNA decay or mRNA suveillance is initiated during the splicing process, which occurs when the exon junction complex is deposited on mRNA. Data indicate that the exon junction complex exports mRNA to the cytoplasm where its association with UPF2 and dissociation of REF/Aly facilitate its decay.

Model for the Brain Tumor-Pumilio translation repressor complex

Article Abstract:

The authors have investigated Brain Tumor protein which regulates mRNA translation. They describe the crystal structure of the Brain Tumor protein's NHL domain and Pumilio-Brain Tumor protein's complex model produced via mutational analysis of the protein-protein interface.
