Development and characterization of DNA sequence OmyP9 associated with the sex chromosomes in rainbow trout

Article Abstract:

The DNA sequence OmyP9 associated with the sex chromosomes in rainbow trout is discussed relative to its development and characterization. Omyp9 is a sequence characterized amplified DNA region and was derived from a RAPD marker associated with the sex chromosomes in rainbow trout.

Rickettsia associated with male-killing in a buprestid beetle

Article Abstract:

Rickettsia, a tick-associated bacterium, has been found to be associated with a leaf-mining, male-killing buprestid beetle. Low levels of parthenogenesis are seen in the system and may come from selection because of male rarity or a direct result of infection by the Rickettsia.

Sperm development, age and sex chromosome meiotic drive in the stalk-eyed fly, Cyrtodiopsis whitei

Article Abstract:

Sperm development, sex chromosome meiotic drive, and age have been studied in Cyrtodiopsis whitei, an unusual stalk-eyed fly. It may be that frequency-dependent selection on male fertility stabilizes the drive polymorphism in the flies.
