The secondary endosymbiotic bacterium of the pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum (insecta: Homoptera)

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum symbiotic bacterium. The prevalence of this bacterium among strains, its phylogenetic position, localization and cytology have been investigated.

Discovery and description of giant submarine smectite cones on the seafloor in Eyjafjordur, northern Iceland, and a novel thermal microbial habitat

Article Abstract:

Researchers discovered hydrothermal vents on the seafloor in Eyjafjordur, Iceland, where hot fresh water discharges. This process has created three smectite cones containing members of the Archaea, Bacillus, Thermonema, Aquificales, and Desulfurococcus mobilis.

Phylogenetic diversity analysis of subterranean hot springs in Iceland

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the microbes associated within the geothermal fluid boreholes. The existence of the indigenous thermophilic subterranean community in the subsurface of Iceland has been investigated, and the results suggest that the nonendemic thermophiles may be disseminated in this subsurface.
