Distinct behavioral responses to ethanol are regulated by alternate RhoGAP18B isoforms

Article Abstract:

The characterization of mutations in the Drosophila RhoGAP18B gene, isolated due to their strong resistance to the sedating effects of ethanol is described. The data from result demonstrate that Rho-type GTPases are intimately involved in the regulation of behavioral responses to ethanol exposure, implicating actin dynamics in the process.

Flies without centrioles

Article Abstract:

The mutation in the Drosophila DSas-4 gene is analyzed and shown that it is essential for centriole replication. The results have shown that centrioles are essential for the formation of centrosomes, cilia and flagella, but are not essential for most aspects of Drosophila development.

The v-ATPase Vo subunit a1 is required for a late step in synaptic vesicle exocytosis in Drosophila

Article Abstract:

Loss-of-function mutations in vha100-1 that indicate a defect late in synaptic vesicle exocytosis are reported. It is observed that Vha 100-1 is a regulator of synaptic vesicle fusion efficiency downstream of soluble NSF-attachment protein receptors (SNARE)-dependent vesicle priming.
