Single allele knock-out of Candida albicans CGT1 leads to unexpected resistance to hygromycin B and elevated temperature

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on Candida albicans mRNA 5'-guanylyltransferase strain. The phenotypic effects that have been elicited by depleting this strain are described.

Survivial in experimental Candida albicans infections depends on inoculum growth conditions as well as animal host

Article Abstract:

Research reveals that Candida albicans strains grown in a buffered peptone-based broth survives longer than those grown in the Sabouraud glucose broth. Data further indicate differences in the infected tissue burdens of the fungus after its inoculation to female mice and male albino guinea pigs.

Distribution of chitinase in guinea pig tissues and increases in levels of this enzyme after systemic infection with Aspergillus fumigatus

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the distribution of chitinase in guinea pig tissues and increases in levels of the enzyme after systemic infection with Asperigillus fumigatus. Experimental results indicated that the enzyme from guinea pig serum and tissues bound to concanavalin A-Sepharose. Findings also showed that the systemic infection of guinea pigs with A. fumigatus results to increases in the tissue levels of chitinase.
