Phage tail-like (high-molecular-weight) bacteriocins of Budvicia aquatica and Pragia fontium (Enterobacteriaceae)

Article Abstract:

Electron microscopic analysis is performed on the contractile phage tail-like bacteriocins of three Pragia fontium strains and one Budvicia aquatica strain. Fonticin and aquaticin are remarkably heat sensitive but trypsin resistant and simultaneous production of contractile and flexible phage tail-like bacteriocins in the Pragia fontium 64613 strain is shown for the first time.

Evolutionary relationships of "Candidatus Riesia spp.," endosymbiotic Enterobacteriaceae living within hematophagous primate lice

Article Abstract:

The molecular characterization of the P-endosymbiont of primate lice, including head and body lice (Pediculus humanus) which was carried out by employing full-cycle rRNA approach, including comparative 16S rRNA gene analysis and the detection of endosymbionts within the host cell by means of fluorescent in situ hybridization is presented.
