Coregulation of anterior and posterior mesendodermal development by a hairy-related transcriptional repressor

Article Abstract:

A hairy-related transcriptional repressor and its coregulation of anterior and posterior mesendodermal development are discussed. Recent research has found the first model for vertebrate endoderm patterning where an early regulatory step at gastrulation, mediated by her5 controls cell contribution to the two regions jointly.

Drosophila homologs of transcriptional mediator complex subunits are required for adult cell and segment identity specification

Article Abstract:

Drosophila homologs of transcriptional mediator complex subunits have been shown to be essential for adult segment and cell identity specification. The Drosophila homologs of 23 human mediator genes and mutations of two have ben identified. A general role for dTRAP80 required for cell viability is shown through clonal analysis. The dTRAP240 gene is required, but cells without its function are viable and they proliferate in a normal way.

Transcription elongation controls cell fate specification in the Drosophila embryo

Article Abstract:

Various molecular mechanisms in the developmentally regulated transcription factor can be studied by examination of simple combinatorial rules for the regulation of the sloppy-paired-1 (slp 1) gene by the pair-rule transcription factors during Drosophila embryogenesis. Results indicate that developmentally regulated transcriptional elongation is central to the process of cell fate specification during the process of embryonic development.
