Enumeration and phylogenetic analysis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon-degrading marine bacteria from Puget Sound sediments

Article Abstract:

Contaminated Puget Sound sediments are enriched with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon- (PAH-) degrading marine bacteria, and the Cycloclasticus is largest group of PAH-degrading bacteria. The PAH-degrading bacteria population is relatively constant, and creosote contamination fails to decrease the microbial population. Whole cell fatty acid analysis reveals the existence of 18 strains of bacteria. The first group of these bacteria belong to the genus Cycloclasticus and the other to the genus Vibrio.

Purification, characterization and sequencing of an extracellular cold-active aminopeptidase produced by marine psychrophile Colwellia psychrerythraea strain 34H

Article Abstract:

A description is given of the purification and initial biochemical and structural characterization of a cold-active, extracellular, family M1 aminopeptidase produced by Colwellia psychrerythraea strain 34H. The potentiality of the stabilizing effect on Co1AP of extracellular polymeric substances is also examined.

Motility of Colwellia psychrerythraea strain 34H at subzero temperatures

Article Abstract:

Results reveal that the Arctic bacterium Colwellia psycherythraea strain 34H exhibits motility at -10 C, suggesting that motility is not affected at sub-zero temperatures.
