ATR disruption leads to chromosomal fragmentation and early embryonic lethality

Article Abstract:

Disruption of ATR, a mammalian counterpart to a family of high-molecular-weight protein kinases conserved in a wide range of species, leads to chromosome fragmentation and early embryo death according to this research communication article. Mice deficient in ATR were studied. Caspase-independent chromosome breaks are seen in ATR-/- cells before widespread apoptosis.

Essential and dispensable roles of ATR in cell cycle arrest and genome maintenance

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the role of ATR in checkpoint responses to ionizing radiation and stalled DNA replication. Results demonstrate that ATR contributes to delay in M-phase entry and regulates most of the late phase .

GI cyclin-dependent kinases are insufficient to reverse dE2F2-mediated repression

Article Abstract:

GI cyclin-dependent kinases have been found to be not sufficient to reverse dE2F2-mediated repression. Repression that is dE2F2 mediated is different from retinoblastoma family protein 1 (RBF1) inhibition of dE2FI. It is resistant to CycE/cdk2 and Cyclin D/cyclin-dependent kinase 4 (CycD/cdk4). To study these things e ither DAP, the Drosophila homolog of p21, or dE2F2, the repressor E2F, was inactivated in cells without dE2F1.
