Genealogical relationships among cultivated avocado as revealed through RFLP analyses

Article Abstract:

Anonymous DNA fragments from the genome of cultivated avocado (Persea americana Mill.) were cloned into a plasmid vector and employed to screen 36 cultivars. A high degree of polymorphism among cultivars was observed enabling all cultivars to be assigned a distinct genotype based on 14 genetic loci. A cluster analysis of genetic similarities among cultivars indicated three primary clusters that correspond to three primary racial groupings of cultivated avocado.

Genetics of skin color, flowering group, and anise scent in avocado

Article Abstract:

The genetics of skin color, flowering group and leaf anise scent in avocado are studied by genetic analyses of the progeny from crosses between all possible phenotypes of the three traits mentioned. The traits are probably coded by several loci having several alleles in each locus with various heterozygous combinations in several loci resulting in the various phenotypes.

Inheritance of time to flowering in chickpea in a short-season temperate environment

Article Abstract:

Time to flowering is central in determining the adaptation and productivity of chickpea in short-season temperate environments. The genetic control of this trait in three crosses, 272-2 x CDC Anna, 298T-9 x CDC Anna and 298-9 x CDC Frontier, is studied.
