Genetic analysis of sneaking and egg-thievery in a natural population of the three-spined stickleback (Gasterosteus aculeatus L.)

Article Abstract:

Egg-thievery and sneaking, that is, nest raiding, in a natural population of three-spined sticklebacks, a species in which the males take over parental care, is considered from the genetic perspective. A high frequency of genetically successful nest raiding was seen. Positive correlation was seen between reproductive success and male body size.

Complex determination of queen body size in the queen size dimorphic ant Leptothorax regatulus (Formicidae: Hymenoptera)

Article Abstract:

Causes of queen size dimorphism of the Leptothorax fugatuus ant have been studied in the first work on ant to find the heritability of quantitative traits in a quantitative genetic framework in a formal way. A positive scenario for evolutionary maintenance in the species is suggested.

Recurrent polyploid origins and chloroplast phylogeography in the Arabis holboellii complex (Brassicaceae)

Article Abstract:

Biogeographical patterns of polyploidy in the Aarabis holboellii complex is discussed. It appears the complex has a predisposition to evolve apomictic reproduction.
