Genetic architecture of Arabidopsis thaliana response to infection by Pseudomonas syringae

Article Abstract:

The genetic basis of three aspects of Arabidopsis thaliana's response to Psuedomonas syringae, such as symptom severity, bacterial population and size and fruit production is investigated. Despite the detected genetic variation observed for susceptibility, only a weak overall relationship between susceptibility traits and fitness is found, suggesting that these traits may not respond to selection.

Genetic basis and fitness consequences of winglessness in the two-spot ladybird beetle, Adalia bipunctata

Article Abstract:

The genetic basis and fitness consequences of winglessness are investigated in the two spot ladybird beetle Adalia bipunctata. The modifier genes influence both wing formation and the fitness components, as there exists a consistent pattern of correlation between the degree of winglessness and life history traits.

Hybrid zones between invasive Rorippa austriaca and native R. sylvestris (Brassicaceae) in Germany: Ploidy levels and patterns of fitness in the field

Article Abstract:

Two natural hybrid zones between the invasive diploid Rorippa austriaca and native polyploid R.sylvestris in Germany for the determining hybrid fitness are studied. The results reveal the first hybrid zone has a high seed set, while the second hybrid zone shows a low fitness value.
