Green fluorescent protein as a noninvasive stress probe in resting Escherichia coli cells

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the hypothesis that green fluorescent protein as a noninvasive stress probe in resting Escherichia coli cells. Three stress probe plasmids, which use a green fluorescent protein as a noninvasive reporter, were constructed and characterized to elucidate E. coli cellular stress responses in resting or quiescent cells. Results revealed regions where quantitative delineation of cell stress was afforded.

Antisense downregulation of sigma(sup)32 as a transient metabolic controller in Escherichia coli: effects on yield of active organophosphorous hydrolase

Article Abstract:

Results show that under ethanol stress conditions, less than 3-fold increase is seen in sigma(sup)32 protein concentration in the cells containing the antisense fragment as opposed to the control cells indicating downregulation of the sigma(sup)32 gene. Decreased levels of sigma(sup)32 regulate chaperone protein and total organophosphorous hydrolase enzyme as well.

Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli biofilms are inhibited by 7-hydroxyindole and stimulated by isatin

Article Abstract:

The examination of hydroxyindoles as biofilm signals is discussed. Findings reveal the formation of robust biofilms and a continuous-flow system by Escherichia coli (EHEC) serotype EDL933 under static conditions
