Drosophila myb is required for the G2/M transition and maintenance of diploidy

Article Abstract:

Genetic analysis in Drosophila melanogaster, which has only one myb gene, has shown Drosophila myb is necessary for maintenance of diploidy and the G2/M transition. Dm myb is necessary for prevention of endoreduplication in wing cells and mitosis. It seems that myb is effective at about the time of the G2/M transition. There is a cellular explanation for the requirement of the phenotypes of the mutants for myb in various cellular lineages in the development of Drosophila.

Riboswitch-dependent gene regulation and its evolution in the plant kingdom

Article Abstract:

A prevalent model is proposed for thiamin pyrophosphate (TPP) riboswitch-controlled gene expression in all flowering plants. It has shown that the TPP binding to THIAMINE C SYNTHASE (THIC) pre-mRNA has engendered alternative splicing leading to the generation of an unstable transcript and thus lowering TPP biosynthesis.
