High-temperature-induced transposition of insertion elements in Burkholderia multivorans ATCC 17616

Article Abstract:

The transposition of various insertion sequence (IS) elements in Burkholdria multivorans ATCC 17616 is analyzed by using an efficient and quantitative method. pGEN500, a plasmid carrying a Bacillus subtilis-derived sacB gene, was introduced into ATCC 17616 cells, and 25% of their sucrose-resistant derivatives were found to carry various IS elements on pGEN500.

Functional analysis of unique class II insertion sequence IS1071

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on many catabolic plasmids often flanked by two copies of insertion sequence, IS1071, which were influenced by various xenobiotic-degrading genes. It was observed that only transposition at high frequencies was possible by IS1071 sequence and that IS1071had the functional features of the class II transposons.

Complete nucleotide sequence of an exogenously isolated plasmid, pLB1, involved in [gamma]-hexachlorocyclohexane degradation

Article Abstract:

The application of the exogenous plasmid isolation technique to isolate a gene for LinB activity from hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH)-contaminated soil is reported. The report presents a snapshot of the dynamism of the linB gene in the natural environment.
