IS292: a novel insertion element from Agrobacterium
Article Abstract:
The IS292 insertion sequence was located in a nopaline-type Agrobacterium X88-292 strain, and is unlike any other insertion sequence found in Agrobacterium. The sequence was found by using DNA isolation, mapping, cloning and sequence analysis methods. It generates a 10-base pair repeated strain once integration occurs. The sequence has similarities with the ISRl1 from Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. viciae. IS292 is 2494 base pairs long and has 21 base pairs that are inverted terminal repeats with two mismatches.

Genetic linkage of the vanB2 gene cluster to Tn5382 in vancomycin-resistant enterococci and characterization of two novel insertion sequences
Article Abstract:
Research demonstrates that vanB gene cluster has three subtypes gene clusters vanB1, vanB2 and vanB3 as revealed by sequence analysis of the gene cluster. Results indicate that vanB2 is part of the putative trnsposon Tn5382 and specific insertion sequences are associated with vancomycin resistant enterococci.

Gas vesicle genes in Planktothrix spp. from Nordic lakes: strains with weak gas vesicles possess a longer variant of gvpC
Article Abstract:
Results demonstrate that the gvpC(sup)28 is the most common variant of the gvpC gene encoding the outer protein of the gas vesicles in Planktothrix species of cyanobacteria. Bacteria with this variant live at deeper depths and produce weak gas vesicles with a critical pressure of 0.61-0.75 Mpa.
