Independent occurrences of multiple repeats in the control region of mitochondrial DNA of white-tailed deer

Article Abstract:

A primary objective of documenting the spatial pattern for different numbers of copies of the repeat in a large sample of white-tailed deer from the southeastern coastal plain of the United States is presented. The pattern of phylogenetic clustering of the haplotypes from across the coastal plain suggests that phenotypes with three or four copies of the repeat have originated multiple times.

Molecular evolution of x-linked accessory gland proteins in Drosophila pseudoobscura

Article Abstract:

A significant correlation in relative rates of nonsynonymous evolution between Drosophila melanogaster and Drosophila pseudoobscura was observed suggesting that these genes are under similar selective constraints. It is concluded that faster evolution of Acps as compared to male-specific non-Acp genes in the D. pseudoobscura group appears to be driven by positive selection.
