Influence of summer biogeography on wood warbler stopover abundance

Article Abstract:

The effect of summer biogeography of migrant wood warblers (Parulidae) on their stopover abundance has been investigated. Mist net data from spring and fall migration in the Middle Rio Grande Valley, NM, spring migration on the Gulf Coast of Louisiana and fall migration on the Gulf Coast of Alabama were used to characterize abundance patterns. The indexes on the warblers' summer range size, summer density and distance between their summer ranges and the netting sites were used to describe the summer biography of wood warblers.

Partial migration, and lek and nesting area fidelity in female great bustards

Article Abstract:

The Great Bustard has been considered sedentary in western and southern areas of its range, but migratory elsewhere. There have however been studies reporting seasonal changes in population numbers. The different patterns of seasonal movements in female Great Bustards is described, based on marked birds, and four different patterns were recorded.

Effects of sampling design on age ratios of migrants captured at stopover sites

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the effect of the spread of sampling over time on the age of song birds captured on migration routes through the Rio Grande Valley of New Mexico. The differential migration of age groups is discussed.
