This review discusses cellular and genetic aspects of Golgi apparatus during animal cell division. The original concept of Golgi inheritance through a stochaistic partinioning has evolved into currently held theories, vesicular transport model and cisternal maturation model to describe functions of Golgi complex during cellular secretion.

Endocytosis by random initiation and stabilization of clathrin-coated pits

Article Abstract:

Clathrin-coated pits in living cells are observed and real time visualization of their cargo sorting and endocytosis is reported. The cargo particle size determines the time required to complete assembly and the intensity of a cargo-loaded clathrin cluster grows steadily during its lifetime.

Research demonstrates that the golgi localized phosphatidylinositotl 4 kinase establishes the lipid-defined organelle identity to Golgi by generating phosphatidylinositol 4 phosphate-rich domains that direct docking of the clathrin adaptor AP-1-complex coat machinery.
