Mapping genes conferring resistance to Phytophthora root rot of soybean, Rps1a and Rps7

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the use of simple sequence repeat or microsatellite markers to facilitate the construction of a linkage map which details the root rot resistance genes Rps7 and Rps1a in the soybean plant.

Inheritance of reaction to metobromuron herbicide in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)

Article Abstract:

Two metobromuron-insensitive cultivars of Phaseolus vulgaris, Taylor Hort and UI 51, were crossed with a sensitive cultivar, Midnight to study the inheritance of reaction to the herbicide. Insensitive cultivars are able to recover from injury brought by metrobromuron. The inheritance reaction is controlled by a single dominant gene which were found in the insensitive cultivars. A single recessive gene, hmb, controls the metrobromuron-sensitive reaction.
