Isolation of canCHS1A, a variant gene of Candida albicans chitin synthase

Article Abstract:

The canCHS1A gene of the Candida albicans chitin synthase encodes a polypeptide constituting 775 amino acid residues. The polypeptide has one amino acid less than that encoded by the canCHS1 gene. The canCHS1A gene, a variant gene of the canCHS1, is functionally identical to the sacCHS2 in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Polyoxin D and nikkomycin Z inactivates the canChs1A enzyme. The gene cloning and sequencing are described.

The Candida albicans gene for mRNA 5'-cap methyltransferase: identification of additional residues essential for catalysis

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the catalysis of the enzyme mediating RNA capping reaction in Candida albicans. The results indicate that amino acid residues like leucine, glycine, glutamic acid, and an unidentified acidic amino acid are involved in the catalysis.
