Lipopolysaccharide profiles from nodules as markers of Bradyrhizobium strains nodulating wild legumes

Article Abstract:

An investigation of the feasibility of using electrophoresis of whole legume noodle homogenates to obtain reliable lipopolysaccharide profiles showed the method to be a fast and discriminating technique for determining the diversity of a bradyrhizobial population. Whether nodule extracts, bacteriods or cultured bacteria were used, electrophoretic patterns stayed the same and no changes were evident in the ladder-like pattern during the nodulation process.

Generation of new hydrogen-recycling Rhizobiaceae strains by introduction of a novel hup minitransposon

Article Abstract:

Research describes the construction of rhizobial strains with hydrogen-recycling ability using a minitransposon carrying the hydrogen-uptake gene from Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. viciae UPM791. Bacteria containing the reconstructed gene generated high amount of hydrogen that got recycled by nitrogenase of the nodules.

Diversity of infectious pancreatic necrosis virus strains isolated from fish, shellfish, and other reservoirs in Northwestern spain

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate that six groups of the pancreatic necrosis viruses are recognizable based on the genome mobility and separation among genomic segments. Data further show that most of the isolates belong to European types and only 6.5% are American strains.
