Local genetic population structure in an endangered plant species, Silene tatarica (Caryophyllaceae)

Article Abstract:

The mechanism behind the microspatial genetic structure of Silene tatarica in four subpopulations using amplified fragment length polymorphism markers is investigated. The results suggest the local spatial genetic structure in S. tatarica was attributed to the isolation-by-distance process rather than effect, and despite free pollen movement across population, restricted seed dispersal maintains local genetic structure in species.

Spatial genetic structure of Simarouba amara Aubl. (Simaroubaceae), a dioecious, animal-dispersed neotropical tree, on Barro Colorado Island, Panama

Article Abstract:

The spatial genetic structure of Simarouba amara (Simaroubaceae), a neotropical tree pollinated by insects and dispersed by animals is studied in the tree population of Barro Colorado Island, Panama. Studies reveal that the genetic structure of Simarouba amara is weak and is found to be due to the pollen and seed dispersal overlapping seed shadows and postrecruitment mortality.

Comparison of the fine-scale genetic structure of three dipterocarp species

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to compare the spatial genetic structure of the three dipterocarp species, and to evaluate the effect of seed dispersal distance on their genetic structure. Tree height probably has a strong influence on the fine-scale genetic structure of the three species.
