Mapping Quantitative Trait Loci Associated with Leaf and Stem Pubescence in Cotton

Article Abstract:

Backcross populations of Gossypium were used to quantitatively and qualitatively assess stem and leaf pubescence in the five-gene series governing leaf trichome density. Chromosome 6 of the first gene in this series was identified as an optimal place for future map-based cloning research.

Inheritance of the chloroplast genome in Sorbus aucuparia L

Article Abstract:

The inheritance of chloroplast DNA was investigated in Sorbus aucuparia using progenies obtained from six controlled crosses between individuals of known haplotype. Power analysis indicates that the frequency of paternal transmission of chloroplasts should not exceed 1.84 percent.

The Genetic Basis of Naturally Occurring Pollen Color Dimorphisms in Nigella degenii (Ranunculaceae)

Article Abstract:

The genetic factors involved in pollen color for Nigella degenii are identified. Light pollen is recessive, while dark is dominant, and one major gene was found to govern most of pollen color variation.
