Amount and structure of intra- and interspecific genetic variation in the moss genus Polytrichum

Article Abstract:

Intra- and interspecific genetic variation in the moss genus Polytrichum have been studied relative to amount and to structure. Five congeneric haploid moss species were studied. Morphological conservatism appears not to be caused by lack of genetic variability and evolutionary potential.

Mating system parameters of Dryobalanops aromatica Gaertn. f. (Dipterocarpacar) in three different forest types and a seed orchard

Article Abstract:

Deviations from the mixed mating model were found to be evident from differences in pollen and ovule allele frequencies and heterogeneity of pollen pools in three forest types and a seed orchard in a study of mating system parameters of Dryobalanops aromatica Gaertn. f. (Dipterocarpacar). The high level of correlated mating and biparental mating in the seed orchard may indicate that the seed orchard was established using related seed sources.

Population history of Eresus cinnaberinus (Araneae: Eresidae) colour variants at a putative species transition

Article Abstract:

Population history in Denmark and Bavaria of the spider Eresus cinnaberinus (Araneae: Eresidae) has been studied using colour variants at a putative species transition. Mitochondrial DNA distributions indicate that colonization of Northern Europe after glaciers was rapid and in waves from different source populations.
