Microsatellite DNA marker inheritance indicates preferential pairing between two highly homologous genomes in polyploid and hemisexual dog-roses, Rosa L. Sect. Caninae DC

Article Abstract:

The hemisexual dog-rose species, which transmit seven chromosomes through their pollen grains depending on ploidy level, are discussed. Analysis of quantitative peak differences allowed an estimation of allelic configuration in the individual plants and suggests that bivalent formation preferentially takes place between chromosomes that consistently share the same microsatellite alleles.

Optimal sampling strategy for estimation of spatial genetic structure in tree populations

Article Abstract:

A model population with simulated distribution of alleles is created to study the optimal sampling strategy to estimate fine-scale spatial genetic structure (SGS) in natural tree populations, which is largely influenced, by restricted pollen and seed dispersal. The sampling ranges are studied and the estimates are compared with results of data of SGS of natural species.

Evolutionary implications of permanent odd polyploidy in the stable sexual, pentaploid of Rosa canina L

Article Abstract:

The pollen and ovular parents in Rosa canina contribute seven and 28 chromosomes respectively to the zygote. The data indicate only one pair of truly homologous genomes in R. canina and the 21 unpaired chromosomes probably remain as univalents through multiple generations and do not recombine.
