Molecular genetic insights on cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) ecology and conservation in Namibia

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted across the Namibian cheetah population using variation at 38 microsatellite loci to characterize patterns of molecular genetic variation. Results showed genetic variation being similar among all regions and that natural dispersal or translocation could be successful in integration and reproduction of several cheetahs.

Comparative genomic structure of human, dog, and cat MHC: HLA, DLA, and FLA

Article Abstract:

The comparison results of the genomic structure of 3 mammalian major histocompatibility complexes (MHCs), human HLA, canine DLA, and feline FLA are reported. It showed remarkable structural differences between HLA and the other 2 MHCs.

Development of Y chromosome intraspecific polymorphic markers in the Felidae

Article Abstract:

A study is done to identify Y chromosome intraspecific polymorphic markers in 6 Felidae species. Results reveal that Y haplotyping system would highlight the evolutionary and population genetic studies of the species.
